Interview With Jax Turyna

Jax Turyna has been modeling and acting for about 7 years with numerous print and film credits. She has become the #1 female cover model in the Romance Novel Industry. A truly delightful young lady, we met while collaborating on her military style pinup art (based on a photo reference by Ralph Haseltine). Here’s a chance to learn more about her

• What did you think when you saw yourself as a work of original art?
When I first saw the artwork, I thought it was really beautiful. It was so cool to myself in a drawing. I absolutely love the drawing. Vince did such a great job!

See full size art of Jax here.

• How did you get started as a model and actress? How old were you?
I started modeling when I was just about 18 years old. I had always wanted to model and act ever since I was a child. I had professional images taken by my cousin when I was in high school and we used them to submit to agencies. I was signed right away. Acting came soon after, when one of my agents got me a movie audition. My very first movie audition I ever had, it went very well and I was cast.

• What is your favorite genre of modeling?
I do not have a specific genre that is my favorite, I like all aspects of modeling. I shoot romance novels the most which is a very fun, because I get to dress up in all different time periods. I also, shoot a lot of ads. I love doing that as well because it is a fun environment to do the shoots in.

• What are some of your acting credits?
I have been on several shows including, God, Guns and Automobiles (History Chanel), Below Deck (Bravo), Web series Rent Controlled and Café Kremlin as well as co-hosted the Mancow TV show in Chicago. I have also had the honor of filming several feature films some of which I was the lead. To see exactly what movies, I have done go to IMBD

• Where can people go to learn more about you, and see some of your portfolio?
To see more of my work, you can go to my website, www.theworldofjax.com You can connect with me via social media through my website.

FLiP Magazine Pinup Published

Finally, the long awaited FLiP Magazine featuring my art of beautiful model/actress Jax Turyna is available to view online here.

The original photo by Ralph Haseltine was changed quite a bit, as you can see.  I also tried to create this artwork in the style of Gil Elvgren and Alberto Vargas, as well as the famous pinups that decorated our bombers in World War II.  I'm very happy with this piece, and I hope you are too.

For a limited time, we are offering 25 canvas printsof Jax' Pinup art. $10 from every one sold will be donated to send pinup books to our troops in VA hospitals. You get a quality canvas print of the beautiful Jax Turyna  for your wall.  Plus, we have a limited supply of 13 x 19 photo prints of this art for only $10, and each will signed byJax, photographer Ralph Haseltine and me. All proceeds will be donated to help the VA troops (except shipping of $5).

This is a great cause. Contact me for more information. Ends December 9!

Brand New Color Pinup Art!

Finally I can reveal the pinup art I have been teasing on Twitter and Facebook of the beautiful model/actress Jax Turyna. The reference photo was taken by Ralph E Haseltine.

I was approached by Frank Monahan, the publisher of FLiP Magazine, about doing  an illustration as a donation to help veterans.  Jax, who is the editor of the men's side of the magazine, donated not only her modeling time, she also procured the make-up artist and the photographer.  (She is a human dynamo!)

Jax and I choice one of Ralph's fine photos, and I set to work laying out the photo reference and began to fill in with color almost immediately.  Jax came by my office several times to consult on the art, to make sure it would fit what she wanted for the issue.  My wife was very involved as well, and she insisted on one major change from the original that clearly made the art better (you'll see it when the issue is published!)

This illustration will be published in the next issue of FLiP Magazine, and it will be auctioned off to benefit a veteran's organization, to assist returning servicemen and women. To learn more or to comment on my art, please write me here.
